The outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has accused the Nigerian Army of carrying out extrajudicial killings and sponsoring insecurity in the southeast region. The pro-Biafra group stated this in reaction to a statement by the army claiming IPOB and its militia arm, the Eastern Security Network are responsible for the killings in the region.

Nollywood actor, Omiyinka Olanrewaju a. k. a. Baba Ijesha has been granted a N2m bail by an Ikeja sexual offences court sitting in Lagos State. The presiding judge, Toyin Taiwo granted the actor bail on Thursday after hearing the submissions of the prosecution and defence in the alleged sexual defilement of a minor brought against Baba Ijesha.
The actor has been in custody since April 22, 2021.
It will be recalled as earlier reported by Naija News that Baba Ijesha had pleaded not guilty to all the charges bordering on rape, sexual assault and abuse of a minor levelled against him.
The presidency on Tuesday gave further explanation on why President Muhammadu Buhari declined assent to the amended electoral bill forwarded to him by the National Assembly. A statement by presidential spokesperson, Garba Shehu stated that if Buhari had signed the bill as forwarded to him by the lawmakers, it would have thrown more Nigerians into poverty and financial pressure while a few politicians and political parties would be the beneficiaries.
